University of Texas Global Ethics and Conflict Resolution Summer Symposium for High School Students
The camp runs from June 18th to July 1st. Registration can be for both weeks or just the first or the second week.
The Summer Symposium is a unique University program for all interested high school students. It combines academics, service, and research. Some of the topics explored will be: Negotiation Theory; Music and Art of Peace; A Devoted and Dynamic Family; Safety and School; Race, Ethnicity and Community; Civil Rights, Human Rights, and Individual Responsibility; Current Events; and Public Policy and National Identity.
Participants also stretch their creative sides by making videos, designing Internet publications, writing songs, learning dances. They meet with distinguished UT faculty, community leaders, and artists and musicians. A key feature of the program is the relationship formed with UT student mentors who live in the dorm and participate actively with the teenagers.
Three meals a day and air-conditioned lodging in a private dormitory with a pool and 24-hour supervision will be provided. Fees start at $550 for UT employees statewide. There is also financial aid for students who qualify.
