Thank You....

  Thank you to SO many of our Falcon Magnet parents for being and staying a part of our school community this year.  We have had parents help in the following ways:

• coming to the Magnet Advisory Council meetings to share insights
  
• acting as secretary on the MAC (Ms. Lionberger, you are so wonderful!)
  
• donating money to help with Magnet activities and book purchases
• donating time to visit classrooms, especially our French classroom, on a weekly basis
• donating food and drinks for various events
• providing assistance and suggesting books as class resources
• taking time to work with students on our Magnet Carta during transition camp
• taking time to meet with politicos on matters of importance to Magnet
• taking time to gather information to share with others regarding our Magnet Program

Magnet Program Transportation Message-- Please read!

Many of you have received a letter regarding Magnet transportation next year.  It is a SURVEY, just checking to see how using the nearest school as your child's bus stop might impact you.  The message from the office of transportation is the following:

"A decision has been made to leave the current magnet transportation system in place, without change, for the 2011-2012 school year. For those households with students meeting current transportation eligibility requirements, your response is still needed as it will provide baseline data on the impact of transitioning from the current level of service to a Magnet Hub System.  Again, I encourage your support in completing and returning the survey form in the letter you recently received.  Thank you for your assistance as we face unprecedented budget constraints while doing our best to provide a world class academic environment benefitting all AISD students."

So, please mail or bring your response to the survey to the Magnet office, but rest assured that any changes for the upcoming year will take place only after considering the input our families provide.

Falcons Taking Flight MAGNET Dinner Monday, May 30th 6-8 p.m. Parents Invited!

Final Farewell to Magnet 8th Graders!

On Monday, May 30th, we offered a final farewell dinner with guest speaker Paul Saldana for our outgoing Magnet students. His message was one of getting out there and making a difference; students were encouraged to keep education a priority along their various paths. Student musicians and song birds took part during the evening.   We all wish our 8th graders good luck as they "take flight" to their high schools.

EIGHTH GRADE FUN PLANNED and PARENTS CAN HELP!

A picnic is planned for the last day of school from 12-3 p.m.   Parents are needed to help out by grilling, (bringing a grill that we can use!) donating chips, brownies or cookies, and drinks.  We have someone bringing all the paper plates and napkins.  This is for all 8th graders and teachers are planning some fun events to offer for the kids during this time such as basketball, football, dance, and more.  Ms. Sides is the administrator in charge and she can be reached at 414-6498.  Let's have fun as we bid our eighth graders goodbye.

Award Ceremonies THIS WEEK!

Award ceremonies took       place this week!

 

6th grade ceremony:    WEDNESDAY: 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the large gym. Parents should sit in the bleachers closest to the entry doors.

7th grade ceremony:   WEDNESDAY: 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the large gym.  Parents should sit in the bleachers closest to the entry doors.

8th grade ceremony:     THURSDAY: 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. in the large gym.  All 8th grade parents are encouraged to attend!  Surprise your child and show up in the bleachers!

FULMORE MEDIA FESTIVAL SET TO ROLL SATURDAY, MAY 21

Fulmore's first annual media festival is set to roll this Saturday at the Alamo Drafthouse on North Lamar from 9 a.m. to noon.  IF YOU DO NOT HAVE YOUR TICKET YET, HEAD OVER THERE and SEE IF THERE ARE ANY SEATS LEFT!  You will be pleasantly surprised at what Mr. Harris and Johnny Stranger have been able to draw out of our film studies students...
