Donation Driving, CSA Coordination, and Flyering
These volunteer positions are all good for folks who want a more flexible volunteer option and will not be on the farm:
Donation Driver: Urban Roots needs someone to help take out donations of farm fresh produce to our hunger relief partners once a week on Friday mornings for the spring and summer. If you are interested, please email us at marysol@urbanrootsatx.org for more information.
CSA Coordinator Workshare: We are currently looking for a volunteer to work 5 hours per week, starting in February through August, to coordinate our Community Supported Agriculture Program. In exchange for your work, you will receive a share of the CSA from April-August! For more information on the Urban Roots CSA, please visit
www.urbanrootsatx.org. If you are interested in this position, please contact marysol@urbanrootsatx.org.
Flyering: With the start of the spring season, Urban Roots has lots of recruiting to do for volunteer days on the farm and our CSA program. We need people who can pick up our flyers and post them around town at coffee shops, libraries, and other community hubs! If you can help out with this, please email volunteer@urbanrootsatx.org.
On-Farm Volunteer Opportunities
Community Volunteer Day, Saturday Feb. 4: 9:30-12:00
We still have space available on Feb. 4th's youth-led Community Volunteer Day! On Community Volunteer Saturdays, youth lead volunteers through the farm work for the day and volunteers learn about the Urban Roots program. They are a great way to spend time outside, meet new people, and learn more about farming and Urban Roots! Space is limited and you MUST RSVP to attend. To RSVP, email volunteer@urbanrootsatx.org.
Tuesday & Thursday Farm Volunteer Mornings: 9:00-12:00
Come volunteer during the week for our Tuesday/Thursday morning shifts! No experience necessary, and you don't need to RSVP. Just show up and Marysol will put you to work harvesting, planting, weeding, or doing other farm work for the day.
Information for Volunteering at the Urban Roots Farm:Whenever you volunteer on the farm, you will need to bring a water bottle and wear close-toed shoes. You will be outside the entire time, so please dress appropriately for the weather! Urban Roots does not provide work gloves unless we are doing a task that requires them, but you are welcome to bring your own. For Saturdays, it is preferred that you stay the entire time, although on Tuesdays or Thursdays, you can come for less time as long as you are there a minimum of 2 hours. Please, no children under 10 years old. Anyone age 10-13 must be accompanied by an adult. All minors must have a signed parent permission form to volunteer.
Directions to the farm and more information on volunteering can be found on our website at www.urbanrootsatx.org/get-involved/volunteer/on-the-farm. If your questions are not answered on our website, you can reach us at 512-750-8019 or volunteer@urbanrootsatx.org.
